Dear Fellow Rotarians,
There was a bit of excitement earlier today when one of the computers in PDG Joseph’s office started spontaneously sending out the “navidad.exe” virus. If your computer got infected you can find information on how to get un-infected at:
Board Meeting Report:
Our Board of Directors held a meeting last Monday evening. At the meeting, it was decided that what our Club needs is a good service project. The meeting was held in the offices of Camp Quality, which was very appropriate, because this now thriving organization was the direct result of our Club’s efforts two years ago. Our finances are more than healthy, with over $400,000 in the bank, so we are well positioned to take on something substantial.
Now the hard part….  deciding what to do. To this end I am asking all of you to put on your thinking caps and come up with suggestions. This project should address a real and pressing need in our community, and ideally it would draw on the collective vocational skills of our members. If anyone has any ideas, please communicate them to either myself or any member of the board.
Tomorrow’s Speaker:
This Friday’s speaker is a very humorous gentleman named Peter Gallo. Peter is a private investigator by profession, and he should have some quite interesting and amusing things to say.
Other matters:
Remember, next Friday’s meeting (Nov. 24th) is the annual DG’s visit, and at his request it will be an evening meeting. I’ve told the Holiday Inn to expect 40 people, so I’m counting on you to bring spouses and guests. These evening meetings are always a bit of fun, and its a good chance for the wives to meet. We’ll be having a full Chinese banquet, and it should be a most enjoyable evening.
As I write this, Brian is on his way back from Macau, where he has attended a meeting of the Rotary Club of Macau to hear a report on the Three Schools Project. I’m sure he will provide us with an update at tomorrow’s meeting.
I look forward to seeing all of you there.
Yours in Rotary,
President Bill
